And it appears as though the first week of it will be relatively quiet, and on the cool side, overall. Rain chances are Tuesday night late, and again Wednesday afternoon. The weekend, however, looks iffy, and appears as though it looks “iffier” the further along it goes…into Monday.

Fearless Fall Season forecast!
I can’t include all the snazzy graphics from the weather computer, but I can tell you this;
Fall Forecast:
Temps will be “volatile”, meaning big swings both ways, but since I think the warm ones will outlive the cold ones, I think it’ll average a degree or two above average, overall, at the end of the day. (Average temp for the Fall season is roughly 44F…from September’s average of 61F to December’s of 27F, so I’d say it’ll come in about 46-47F.)
I expect precip to come in slightly above average, (which would be: Sept=4.47″+Oct=4.25″+Nov 4.06″+Dec 4.10″=15.88″) So, maybe 16-18″.
As for snow, first flakes fly in Utica (gotta be specific, cause it can vary weeks across the area) the third week of October, and the first measurable snowfall (at least 1″) will be third week of November.
There you have it. Study these, professor, and let me know how I did, when I come around with a Winter forecast, after Halloween 🙂
My Autumn Forecast!!!
I hope to show it on air Thursday evening (tomorrow eve), and then post it here Friday, for all to see. It will contain my expectations for the Fall season (one season at a time!), including temps, rainfall, overall conditions, and maybe even first flakes!!!
You wont wanna miss it, I’ve got a pretty good record on seasonal forecasts 🙂
They tell us what most of the country already suspected, the warmest Summer, overall, on record. And here too, it was a warm and fairly dry Summer…so we resemble the overall Nation in terms of temps and precip.
Now, it’s important to distinguish several things. First, ONE Summer doesn’t prove (or disprove) a thing, in terms of Greenhouse Gas Warming, or Global Warming. (My opinion? Both are happening. That’s my professional opinion.) Secondly, those are two seperate issues. You can HAVE Global Warming (a period of Earth’s history when temps warm up) and NOT have GHG Warming (human effects, if any). The difficult part is determining our effect in the mix (GHG Warming).
Regardless of which/both are or are not going on, it is the warmest on record (SOME year has to be warmest, right? Just as some year has to be coolest!)

This is the Wednesday, Sept 12, 2012, 6pm EST National Temp map.
You can clearly see a change of seasons, by the temps. And while we’ll get one more fantabulous day Thursday, a big change is again coming for the weekend.
FIRST FROST? ALREADY? Yup!
Summer…to Autumn…back to Summer!
It IS that time of year though, when wide fluctuations in temperature (and weather) are common. So, what this means is that you will need to widen your wardrobe for the the coming weeks. The next 5 days alone will feature highs in the 80s Friday, 70s Saturday, 60s Sunday and Monday, and then 70s Tuesday and over 80 by Wednesday. Here’s the chart of interest 🙂
