For those disappointed the Mayan calendar didn’t run out…

Maybe we have a new contender! How about this? Perhaps the brightest object in the night sky, a comet…recently discovered, making a close pass to us later this year, allowing for some (hopefully) spectacular views. Check out the article for specifics…

Biggest snow storm in nearly 2 years, approaching!

A 24 hour break in the weather, with cold temps tonight, and then it gets real intersting real quick. A bigger, more intense storm is tracking in our direction, with snow expected to break out around 10pm-Midnite tomorrow night, with snow falling fast and furious overnight into much of Thursday. Expect a minimum of 6″ and perhaps 8-12″ in total. Leftover flurries Thursday night and Friday.

It’s one of the biggest WEATHER holidays of the year :)

It’s the Winter Solstice, when the earth is actually CLOSEST to the sun in its’ annual orbit path, but for us, our hemisphere is tilted away from the sun, making it Winter here. Another 90 days to go, till Spring. After a few days lul, the days start getting longer…but a little known fact is that, while the rise still gets a little later through next week, the set becomes a little later each day, offsetting the morning light loss in the evening. Which is why there’s a lull in daylight length change. These are little factoids you can amaze your friends with, while visiting them for the holidays!

7 Days till Christmas…weather

Damp drizzly weather will turn to flurries this evening and night (no accumulation), and clouds will be difficult to break up tomorrow. A little sun through clouds, but not alot. A little more than that Thursday, however another system will bring rain Thursday night, which will likely end as several hours of wet snow Friday morning/early afternoon. After that, colder air will pour in through next Monday, and the Lake will likely generate a little snow for us Friday night through part of Sunday.

It doesn’t look like a serious Lake-Effect set up, but a little accumulating snow is still likely…which would give us a White Christmas for next week.

And, not only will a little snow fall over the weekend, but weather will turn colder for awhile too, well beyond Christmas Day.
